Developed during a residency at Nordingrå Konstby, Love Plastic Hideaway explores the conditions of romantic love and the influence of social structures on intimate relationships. The work reflects on the tensions between individual needs, gender roles, and socially shaped ideas of intimacy and connection.
Found objects, furniture, and personal belongings form a fragile arrangement within the installation. Positioned in precarious balances, they suggest entanglements and processes of social transformation. A video projection, developed with Max Rothenberg, follows the interaction between two protagonists and reflects on the possibilities and limitations of connection within existing social structures. Throughout the video, the surrounding landscape emerges as a presence in its own right, repeatedly overlooked by the protagonists.
The work was presented as part of the pop-up exhibition Resonance at Nordingrå Konstby. The stay in Sweden took place as part of the FREE AWAY scholarship and was funded by the BMWKMS.
